A focused 6-part series on the events leading up to and the historical ones following the 2000 US Presidential election. Most time is spent on the fallout when it became apparent Gore might still have a chance even after conceding the race. I particularly enjoyed the first two episodes that give background to the election, voters in Florida, the gaps in Gore’s campaign and the in depth exposition of exit polling – its cutthroat use by the TV networks and how the shortcomings of the technique led to a catastrophic result on election night.

As with all Leon Neyfakh produced/hosted podcasts, I really had to stay focused to digest everything that was being reported. He cuts through the story precisely and with great clarity, but each episode is a history class and one is wise to keep track of each key detail as its impact is sure to be felt later in the chain of events. Fascinating and informative. Neyfakh rates high as one of my podcasting history teachers.
